My name is Robert King. I was born in NSW in 1989 and have spent the first 30 years of my life exploring the world outside of Australia. I’ve lived in Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh and the US and in the last 5 years I’ve explored over 50 different countries promoting tourism around the world. Earlier this year I moved home and now I’m ready to see every corner of my beautiful homeland on my great Australian road trip.
The Van
I’ll be spending the remainder of 2020 fitting out the ultimate adventure van - equipped with everything I need to spend 6-12 months on the road. The van will be equipped with a studio for podcasting and video interviews as well as some adventure gear I plan to take on the road with me:
Road Bike
Mountain Bike
Surfboard
Camping Equipment
Multiple cameras and lenses (Sony and Olympus)
Aquatech water housing
Axis go housing
DJI Mavic 2 Pro
Rode microphones and recording equipment
The Trip
The Trip is starting on the central coast of NSW, at each location I plan on visiting iconically australian landscapes, landmarks and hidden gems as well as experiencing local cuisines and collaboration with local creators and talking with local media (magazines and TV).
Case Study
Spending a day hiking and camping in the Bouddi National Park - https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/bouddi-national-park. Interviewing famous Australian photographer Ken Duncan at his art studio and eating dinner with Sean Connolly, the culinary director at Bells Killcare restaurant. Host a sponsor giveaway at Avoca beach to get local youth involved with the trip (to be announced via my social media). The experiences will be summarized with an interview in coast magazine (coastmagazine.com.au) and a live TV interview with local news channel NBN News (https://www.nbnnews.com.au/category/central-coast-news/)
The Big Picture
The trip will have multiple charitable partners. Australia is and always has been home to me. So I have chosen two native Australian charities to raise funds and awareness for on the trip:
https://healingfoundation.org.au/about-us/
Media
Podcasts/live interviews with creators from all around Australia Interviews I will be conducting with local and national magazines and news outlets to raise awareness for the trip and it's cause.
Sponsorship
There are two main ways to become a trip sponsor:
1. Pay a monthly sponsorship fee that guarantees content from the journey, mentions on my social media and on my website as well as local giveaways across Australia.
2. As a gear/service sponsor - If you can provide gear or services needed on the trip.
If you’re interested in sponsorship please reach out using the form provided below.
